Mini- Pizza With Pizzaz! Recipe

Served as a warm pre-dinner snack with drinks, or as an accompaniment to a creamy vegetable soup, this gives pizza a whole new look!

Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 packet SPAR Freshline white pita bread
  • ½ jar SPAR sun-dried tomato pesto
  • 100 g pouch SPAR smoked Norwegian salmon, shredded
  • 1 medium red onion, peeled and sliced into paper-thin rings
  • +- 24 capers
  • pre-grated 3-cheese pizza mix

Recipe Method

1. Pre-heat oven to 220 ºC with oven shelf one-above centre position.
2. Spread tomato pesto across one side of each pita bread.
3. Scatter smoked salmon, onion rings and capers across the tops.
4. Generously top with the 3- cheese mix, and bake directly on the oven-rack for 6 minutes.
5. Serve immediately sliced in 4 triangles to make 24 triangles.

Hints & Tips

A mixture of grated cheddar and mozzarella cheese will suffice, if you are unable to source the special 3-cheese mix referred to in this recipe.
Recommended accompaniment: SPAR low-fat salmon-flavoured cream cheese
Recommended wine: a young Merlot
