Five Sauce Chicken Recipe

Use chicken fillets (so you pay just for what you eat), with a variety of everyday household sauces, all cooked together using minimal electricity, for an economical dish for the whole family!

Recipe Ingredients

  • 5 large chicken breast fillets (+- 570 g)
  • 10 ml   salt
  • 16 grinds black pepper
  • 75ml SPAR Tomato Sauce
  • 75ml SPAR Chutney (use your favourite flavour of choice)
  • 50ml Worcester sauce
  • 75ml SPAR Smooth Mayonnaise 
  • 45ml SPAR Sunflower or Canola oil
  • 10ml mild curry powder (reduce to 8 ml if hot)
  • 15ml SPAR Mustard Sauce

Recipe Method

*tested in a 900W microwave oven

  1. Place the chicken in a shallow microwavable casserole dish.
  2. Combine all the remaining ingredients in a bowl, and pour the sauce over the chicken fillets, to completely cover them.
  3. Cover and chill until required.
  4. Microwave with a lid on, for 15 minutes at 100 % Power. Remove the lid, turn the chicken pieces over and move them around in the sauce, then microwave for a further 5 minutes. Replace the lid, and set aside for approximately 5 minutes before serving.

Hints & Tips

To cook yellow rice, dissolve 2 ml turmeric powder in the pot of water, before adding in 250 ml (200 g) SPAR long grain parboiled rice and placing on the stove to boil.
