Chakalaka Bread Recipe

This is a great side dish to serve at a braai or to enjoy freshly baked and spread with cream cheese for lunch.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 410 g can SPAR Mild & Spicy CHAKALAKA
  • 500 g SPAR self raising flour

Recipe Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180 º C with oven shelf in centre position. Grease a medium size loaf pan.
  2. Using a hand whisk, beat eggs together in a mixing bowl until fluffy.
  3. Stir in the chakalaka and lastly the flour, stirring with a wooden spoon until ingredients are just combined
  4. Pour into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 35 minutes in preheated oven.

Hints & Tips

  • Turn this recipe into savoury muffins - bake for 20 minutes in deep muffin pan
  • Incorporate grated or crumbled cheese into or on top of the loaf before baking
  • Enjoy this bread fresh on the day of baking
