Tea Soaked Pears

This classic dessert is simple, chic and delicious. It is also great for the waistline!

Ingredients

  • 6 SPAR Freshline pears
  • 1 stalk lemongrass
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 100 g SPAR white sugar
  • 5 - 6 fresh mint leaves
  • 3 teabags SPAR Organic Honey bush Green Tea with wild berries
  • 10 ml SPAR lemon juice

Method

  1. Peel the pears, keeping stalks intact.
  2. Soak the lemongrass, cinnamon, sugar, mint and tea bags in 750 ml of boiling water and allow to infuse for 4 minutes, then strain.
  3. Pour the tea mixture in a saucepan and bring to the boil, add the pears and allow to simmer for 10 minutes or until they are soft. Remove the pears and keep them warm.
  4. Boil liquid and reduce by half.
  5. Drizzle the sauce over these delicious pears and serve either warm or chilled.
