A fun new slant on the traditional Bunny Chow, especially for young children to enjoy or for warm cocktail party snacks.

Cooking Time

3-5 minutes

Serves

Serves: 4 children

Recipe Ingredients

  • 14 cocktail-size white round bread rolls
  • 410g can baked beans in chilli flavoured sauce
  • 1 small Granny Smith apple, peeled and grated
  • 15ml SPAR mango or pineapple chutney
  • 15ml coconut
  • 1 small carrot, peeled and grated

Recipe Method

  1. Using kitchen scissors, cut a square outline on the top crust of each bread roll.
  2. Gently scoop out the bread in one piece within that square, without breaking through the side crust walls. Set these aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the remaining ingredients. Warm thoroughly in the microwave oven. Spoon into each bread roll cavity to almost full.
  4. Return the plug of bread onto each roll, with the top side facing down for a more authentic look resembling the original adult size.

Hints & Tips

Be sure to have paper serviettes close by for messy fingers!
Alternatively, to serve adult portions rather, divide un-sliced standard white bread loaves into thirds along the length. Double the filling quantity.
