Ploughman Subs Recipe

Cheese, fruit, pickles, ham and mustard, all combined in a hot sub sandwich that will keep you going until dinner.

Serves: 3 - 4

Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 pack of SPAR Freshline French, muesli or 3-Seed baguettes
  • 250 ml SPAR grated Gouda cheese
  • 1 medium ripe SPAR Freshline pear, slivered
  • 4-5 SPAR pickled onions, chopped
  • 4 -6 slices tongue or peppered ham from your SPAR deli counter
  • SPAR mustard sauce

Recipe Method

  1. Cut a central deep groove down the length of each baguette, and scoop out some of the bread along this line to provide a deep cavity.
  2. In a 1litre SPAR Good Living porcelain mixing bowl, combine the cheese, pear, pickled onion and ham with enough mustard sauce to moisten.
  3. Use this mixture to fill the cavity generously. Wrap each baguette in SPAR aluminium foil.
  4. Bake for 10 - 15 minutes, cut each baguette in half and enjoy warm and freshly baked.

Hints & Tips

Kitchen scissors work really well for cutting the channels down lengths of the baguettes.
Each baguette may be microwaved for 90 seconds on 100% Power as an alternative to using an oven, but wrap in clingfilm or waxwrap instead of foil.
