Filled Croissants Recipe

Croissants with their flaky layers, crammed full with moist, delicious fillings, are a wonderfully convenient substitute for individual hot pies!

Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 pack SPAR Freshline Butter Croissants
  • 8 slices roast silverside (from your SPAR Deli counter), chopped
  • 200 ml pouch ready-to-heat Brown Gravy or Creamy Curry Gravy
  • 175 ml grated SPAR cheddar cheese

Recipe Method

  1.  Pre-heat oven to 190 º C.
  2. Cut a deep horizontal slit half-way down each croissant.
  3. Combine the beef, gravy of choice, and grated cheese. Fill each croissant with this mixture, pushing it into the far corners, to fill generously.
  4. Bake for 10 minutes until crisp and browned.

Hints & Tips

1. Vary the main filling ingredient and gravy/sauce to your heart's content:
Use roast chicken from your SPAR Deli counter, cubed and combined with canned creamed mushrooms, or a vegetarian option of feta and spinach freezer-to-microwave packs, or cooked SPAR chopped bacon with a pouch of creamy cheese sauce

2. Turn these into mock Apple Danish pastries, by filling with mashed canned pie apples, ground cinnamon and a little caramel syrup.
