Naartjie Pan Pudding Recipe

The sweet easy-peeler naartjies can be used for a delicious warm dessert for winter.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 6 SPAR Freshline Easy-Peeler naartjies, peeled
  • 30 ml SPAR butter
  • 75 ml caramel syrup
  • 30 ml sherry
  • 15 ml custard powder mixed with 25 ml cold water
  • optional: flaked almonds to decorate

Recipe Method

  1. Pull off the thick threads of membrane from the peeled naartjie segments, without getting too finicky, but just enough to neaten them somewhat.
  2. In a shallow frying pan, heat the butter and syrup together until bubbly.
  3. Pour on the sherry and boil off briefly over high heat. Add in the naartjie segments and simmer for 5 minutes to soften them.
  4. Stir in the custard paste and briefly bring to the boil.
  5. Serve immediately, sprinkled with flaked almonds if using.
