  • 45 ml SPAR Golden Syrup
  • 5 ml Vanilla essence
  • 500ml SPAR Self Raising Wheat Flour
  • 250 ml SPAR Sugar
  • 500 ml SPAR Oats
  • 250 ml SPAR Desiccated Coconut
  • Chocolate Drops

Recipe Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. Melt butter or margarine over low heat or in the microwave. Add the golden syrup and vanilla essence and stir well.
  3. In a large mixing bowl. Sift the flour and add the sugar, oats and coconut. Stir well until evenly mixed.
  4. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and add the margarine/syrup mixture. Use an electric mixer to make sure all is incorporated evenly.
  5. Press mixture into a greased 22 cm x 32 cm baking pan. The dough must be about 1 ½ cm thick.
  6. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Remove from oven and using a knife cut into 20 bars. Place the chocolate drops on the hot Crunchies to form the numbers for the dominos. Return to the oven for a minute or two so that they melt into place.
  8. Remove from the oven again and place on a wire rack until cooled. Melt a few extra chocolate drops or a few cubes of chocolate. Pour into the corner of a plastic sandwich bag. Snip the end and then gently drizzle or pipe the lines between the numbers.
  9. Store in an airtight container.

Hints & Tips

You can add 125 ml of raisins or cranberries to the mixture and make fruity Crunchies instead.
