Recipe Ingredients

  • Approximately 3cm ball of orange fondant icing
  • Approximately 3cm ball of green fondant icing
  • A toothpick or skewer
  • A small knife

Recipe Method

Orange Carrots

  1. Pinch off a piece of orange icing approximately the size of the tip of your baby finger.
  2. Gently using your hands roll the ball of orange icing into a cylinder shape, then carefully press one end to elongate and create the pointy end of a carrot.
  3. Using a toothpick or skewer, press a small hole into the thicker top of the carrot (this is where the green stalk will go).

Green Stalks

  1. Divide your ball of green icing into 4 pieces.
  2. Using your fingertips, roll each piece into a long thin cylinder.
  3. Using a knife, cut into 2cm lengths
  4. Carefully fold each 2cm piece into a “V” shape – this will be the stalk
  5. Leave the green stalks to dry for 30 minutes.

 Assembly

  1. Once the components of the carrots have hardened slightly, gently press the green stalks into the hole at the top of the carrots that you created with a toothpick.
  2. Repeat the steps until you have a few carrots to decorate your iced muffins or cupcakes with.
  3. Allow the icing carrots to harden for at least 2 hours before working with them.
