Braai Onion Parcels Recipe
Next time you have a braai, why not try a new vegetable side-dish, requiring minimal effort? So good with steak and wors!

Recipe Ingredients

+/-1kg pickling onions (or baby red onions as an option)

1/3 can beer or cider (110ml)

15ml garlic and herb seasoning

50g SPAR butter
Recipe Method

Place the onions in a bowl and pour over enough boiling water to cover the onions. Set aside for 10 minutes then pour off the water then peel and trim the onions.

Place them onto a large double-layer sheet of heavy-duty aluminium foil. Dot with butter.

Sprinkle on the herb seasoning and bring up the sides to form a deep bowl-shape. Pour in the beer around the onions.

Seal the packet firmly and place it in amongst medium-hot coals until tender.
Hints & Tips
Substitute the beer or cider, with Appletizer or beer shandy.
Be careful when opening the parcel, as a lot of steam is created within, which has the potential to burn your hands.
