Ingredients
-
1 fresh egg
-
Small bowl
-
Medium saucepan
-
Water
-
1 tbsp white vinegar
-
Wooden spoon
Method
Crack the egg into a small bowl or ramekin
Fill the saucepan with water, add the vinegar and bring to a medium simmer.
Use the handle of your wooden spoon to briskly stir the water in one direction so that a 'whirlpool' effect is created and the water.
Drop the egg into the centre of the whirlpool. This prevents the egg from spreading and 'feathering' at the edges.
Turn off the heat and leave the egg for five minutes in the hot water to ensure the egg cooks through yet maintains a runny yolk.
