Whole-wheat Yoghurt Bread
Fresh, homemade bread is the best! Beat the cold weather by enjoying this tasty bread with some soup.
Whole-wheat Yoghurt Bread
  • Prep Time: 20 minutes  Cook Time: 50 - 60 minutes

  • Makes: 10 slices

Ingredients

  • 5 ml bicarbonate of soda
  • 500 ml SPAR fat free plain yogurt
  • 15 ml SPAR sunflower oil
  • 30 ml SPAR honey
  • 500 ml SPAR Brown bread wheat flour
  • 250 ml SPAR self-raising wheat flour
  • 250 ml whole wheat flour
  • 250 ml sunflower seeds

Method

  1. Pre-heat your oven to 190ºC.
  2. Add the bicarbonate of soda to the yoghurt and then stir in the oil and honey.
  3. Place all remaining ingredients into a bowl and stir until well mixed.  Pour in the yoghurt mixture and mix thoroughly.
  4. Place into a greased 23 cm loaf tin.
  5. Bake for 50 – 60 minutes or until cooked through. 
  • Read the recipe thoroughly, prepare the loaf tin and collect and measure all the ingredients before starting to mix.

  • Use a skewer to check if the loaf is cooked.  Push it into the highest part of the loaf and if it comes out clean the bread will be ready.

  • This bread is a good source of fibre.
