Bake and Create

• Bake our basic "Rectangular Party Cake" recipe and mix a batch of icing.
• Cut as indicated, using the remaining 4 corner pieces for placing as the fins. Use our A3 printable cake template with guidelines on where to cut the individual pieces.
• Colour the icing for covering the fish. Use various sweets or mini-biscuits, as illustrated, for the scales, fin lines, mouth and eye. Chewy-mints may be used to depict air bubbles.
• If you are feeling a little adventurous, watch the Ombre Petal Icing Tutorial that can be used to make up the body of the fish as scales.
• Ice the cake board with a wavy motion of blue/green waves with tips of white icing, or simply green or blue cellophane taped down securely. SPAR brown sugar gives a realistic beach sand appearance.

Party Snacks

• Make coral reefs with Candy Popcorn.
• SPAR Freshline Cocktail Croissants as crabs, cut and spread inside with SPAR Squillos Chocolate Spread, then two lollipops on top with shortened sticks, spiked into each one to depict crab tentacles.
• Try our Holiday Fun in a Bucket recipe, for a tasty chocolate dessert or treat.
• Jug of SPAR Cream Soda Cordial diluted with water, with apple slices floating in, or poured into individual plastic or glass bottles with bright straws.
• Order mini-iced doughnuts from your local SPAR Bakery department, to depict lifebuoys.
• Marshmallow fish and SPAR Squillos Sour Worms for baby eels.
• SPAR Freshline blue party cup-cakes; sprinkle crushed ginger biscuits to depict a patch of beach sand, and pop a jelly baby on top.
• SPAR Shells Prawn Flavoured Snacks.
• Bake a few frozen SPAR Kiddies Funky Fish.
• 'Star Fish sandwiches', using a star-shape cookie cutter to cut out from filled bread sandwiches.  Add an outline on top using SPAR Sweet Mustard Sauce piped directly from the plastic bottle, to suggest little Star Fish.
