Egg-cellent Easter Ideas

Egg-cellent Easter Ideas
Easter is a great opportunity to gather family and friends to celebrate!

Origami Bunny Boxes

Great as Easter gifts, filled with sweet treats!
  1. Start with a square piece of paper 15cm by 15cm, colour side down.
  2. Fold the piece of paper in half, so it makes a  triangle with the colour side up now.
  3. Fold the triangle in half, making a smaller triangle.  Unfold it back to the larger triangle.
  4. Fold up the bottom of the triangle up (this is going to be the bunny’s ears) about 3 cm.
  5. Fold up the each side of the bottom of the triangle so that the ears are now sitting at the top.
  6. Fold the bottom tip up.
  7. Turn the bunny around.
  8. Fold the top tip behind to make the bunny’s head.
  9. Decorate the face.

Easter Egg Tea Lights

Make these beautiful candles for your Easter lunch table.

What you’ll need:
  • jumbo egg shells
  • paint brush
  • paint
  • tea-light candles
  • egg cups
  1. Collect jumbo egg shells, wash them out and let them dry somewhere safe.
  2. Once you have the amount you want, paint the outside of the shells any colour you like.
  3. Buy tea-light candles and drop them into the shells.
  4. Place the shells into egg cups and dot them around your Easter table.

Easter Egg Pinata

Making this game is almost as much fun as playing it!

What you’ll need:
  • flour
  • water
  • scissors
  • newspaper
  • big balloon
  • paint brush
  • different colour paints
  • sweets
  • string
  1. Make some papier mache mixture by combining 1 part flour to 1 part water.
  2. Cut newspaper into strips of about 2cm x 15cm long.
  3. Soak strips of newspaper in the mixture.
  4. Blow the balloon up as large as it can go without popping.
  5. Drape newspaper strips around the balloon.
  6. Cover the whole balloon in this way, overlapping and layering. The more layers you make, the tougher the piƱata will be to crack and the more fun the children will have (this will also extend the drying time).
  7. Once the balloon has dried (takes about 24 hours), paint it like an Easter egg.
  8. Once the paint dries, pop the balloon, cut a little hole at the top and carefully remove the balloon through the hole and drop in sweets.
  9. Make two small holes and hang it up using string to secure it on a tree.
  10. Blindfold the children and give them a big wooden spoon to bash the egg with.
  11. The winner is the one who manages to break it and spill the sweets.

Glow in the dark Easter Egg Hunt

An Easter egg hunt with a difference. This takes a bit of setting up but they will be thrilled by what awaits them.

What you'll need
  • plastic eggs
  • glow sticks
  1. Buy need to find out where to get these and glow in the dark sticks.
  2. When you are ready to hide the eggs, snaps the sticks, place them inside the eggs and hide them.
  3. Send the children out to find them in the dark.
  4. To make it more tricky and to keep older children interested, have piles of sand with hidden eggs placed around the garden too.
