Raising awareness, understanding & taking action

Gender-based violence affects individuals and communities across South Africa. Through our 16-day education initiative, SPAR aims to build understanding, encourage conversation, and share practical information that helps people recognise abuse, challenge harmful behaviours, and know where to get support.

Each video focuses on a key aspect of gender-based violence – including the different forms it takes, warning signs to look out for, and steps that individuals and communities can take to help prevent it.

Helping children understand human trafficking

On 23 November 2021 the National Prosecuting Authority of South Africa (NPA) and SPAR Group launched the Super Cool Superheroes' Tricks Against Trafficking toolbox.

SPAR supports child-friendly education that helps young people recognise unsafe situations, understand their rights, and know how to ask for help. These resources are designed for schools, training sessions, and community awareness programmes.

Children have secret weapons they can use to stay safe and this toolbox provides tips for kids on how to be anti-trafficking heroes in their communities.
