Governance & transparency
Board-level sustainability strategy
Sustainability is part of how SPAR plans, decides, and grows. Our Board helps guide the Group’s long-term sustainability priorities, making sure our commitments are governed with care, measured with discipline, and aligned to the needs of our people, retailers, suppliers, communities, and planet.

Our Board-level sustainability strategy includes:
Long-term value
We focus on decisions that support resilient operations, trusted relationships, and shared value for the communities we serve.
Ethical leadership
Guided by SPAR’s values, our governance approach supports responsible decision-making across the Group.
Clear accountability
Our committees help monitor progress, review performance, and keep sustainability priorities on the agenda.
How sustainability is governed at SPAR
Through the Board and its committees, SPAR monitors sustainability performance, reviews key risks and opportunities, and supports actions that help the Group operate more responsibly. This includes oversight of climate resilience, ethical business conduct, stakeholder relationships, social impact, and transparent reporting.
The Board carries overall responsibility for ensuring that sustainability is considered in SPAR’s long-term direction.
Guides our work across ethics, corporate citizenship, sustainability, and stakeholder responsibility.
Our voluntary trading model is supported by collaborative structures that help align retailers and wholesalers around shared standards.
Sustainability risks are considered as part of our wider risk management process, helping the Group prepare for change.

Strategy built around shared value
Building a better future for all
Our focus is practical. We work to reduce environmental impact, strengthen supplier relationships, support local communities, promote ethical conduct, and build a business that can keep serving people well into the future.
