Beef and Onion Stir Fry Recipe

Juicy strips of sirloin steak, drenched in a soy and black pepper marinade with crisp, seasonal veg and teryaki sauce.

Recipe Ingredients

For the Stir Fry

  • 400g sirloin steak, cut into thin pieces
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon SPAR olive oil
  • 2 SPAR Freshline onions, cut into wedges
  • 1 SPAR Freshline red pepper, cut into thin slices
  • 3 cups chopped mixed vegetables: broccoli, carrots, sugar snap peas
  • 2 SPAR Freshline spring onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

For the Teriyaki Sauce

  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons SPAR honey
  • 1 tablespoon corn flour
  • 1 tablespoon SPAR Freshline  garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon SPAR Freshline  ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Recipe Method

  1. Marinade the beef in the soy sauce and black pepper.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the teriyaki sauce ingredients. Set aside.
  3. Heat a large pan over a medium heat. Add oil.
  4.  Add the meat and brown until cooked through.
  5. Take out the pan and place into a bowl and set aside.
  6. Using the same pan cook all the vegetables until tender.
  7. Add the cooked beef and teriyaki sauce to the pan with the veggies. As the sauce thickens, stir in half of the spring onions and cook for another minute.
  8. Finish with a sprinkle of the sesame seeds and remaining spring onions.
