Giant Chocolate Hearts

Giant Chocolate Hearts
A perfect gift for birthdays or Christmas.
Giant Chocolate Hearts
  • Prep Time: 1hr 10 minutes (includes 1 hour chilling)  Cooking time: 15-20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 200g butter
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 250g cake flour
  • strawberry jam
  • 100g icing sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 50g chocolate chips
  • large heart-shaped cookie cutter

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180˚C. Using an electric beater, combine the butter, icing sugar and egg yolks until thick and creamy.
  2. Add the vanilla essence and the flour and beat until the mixture forms a dough.
  3. Wrap the dough in clingfilm and put into the fridge for 1 hour.
  4. Roll out the dough onto a lightly floured surface and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to form your biscuits. Cut a circle out of the middles of half of them.
  5. Carefully press the chocolate chips into the biscuits with circle cutouts.
  6. Place all the biscuits on a tray lined with baking paper and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Allow the biscuits to cool, then spread the plain biscuits with strawberry jam and place the chocolate chip hearts on top.
