Homemade baby food is great for baby, and easy to store when you freeze it in an ice cube tray. Fill each compartment to the top with your pureed blends, and freeze. Then, take out the desired number of cubes at mealtime. Not sure how much baby should eat? Here's a guide:
4-6 months = 2 cubes
6-9 months = 4 cubes
9-12 months= 6 cubes
Note: These numbers are estimates based on store-bought food sizes.
Always consult your Doctor or Baby Clinic Sister to determine how much your baby should be eating.

-
Use trays for freezing small amounts of leftover wine or stock or herbs in water – pop out from frozen directly into your cooking as a usual flavour stand-by.

Needing a jelly or gelatine-based mixture to cool quickly so you can for example add in whipped cream as the last step in a recipe? Place the bowl of mixture inside a larger outer bowl. Fill the gap between the bowls with ice cubes. Liberally sprinkle the ice cubes with salt. The temperature of the mixture in the centre bowl will drop considerably to speed up the cooling process for you.
It just gets cooler! Here are some general fridge tips
-
If you want to keep any salad fresh for the evening party, first chill the bowl or tray in which you intend to serve your salad.

Roll each cucumber in a piece of newspaper while storing in refrigerator - this will remain fresh for a week.
-
Thaw frozen milk sachets in a dish, in the fridge. Don’t be rushed and leave them to thaw in a warm kitchen.
-
A dish of bicarbonate of soda in your fridge will absorb any strong food odours.

Cleaning the inside of a fridge with disinfectants is fine if they are thoroughly removed. If not the chemical odours may become absorbed by milk, fresh produce and other foods. The key is to always rinse and wipe the fridge thoroughly after applying any soap or disinfectants, preventing the smell from remaining.
