Saucy Mince with Beans
By adding butterbeans or other legumes and vegetables to this meal, it helps extend the meal and create new textures.
Saucy Mince with Beans

Ingredients

  • 30ml SPAR Canola/ Sunflower Oil
  • 1 SPAR Freshline Onion, diced
  • 2 SPAR Freshline Garlic cloves, crushed
  • 250g Lean Beef Mince
  • 60g SPAR Tomato Paste
  • 425g can Tomato and Onion Mix
  • 50ml SPAR Fruit Chutney
  • 15ml Mixed Dried Herbs
  • 250ml Water
  • 2.5 ml SPAR Salt
  • 425g can SPAR Butterbeans, drained

To Serve:
SPAR Freshline Sweet Potato or Phutu or Rice

Method

  1. Sauté the onion and garlic in a large pot until soft.
  2. Add in the mince and cook through, being sure to break up the mince finely while frying.
  3. Once the mince is cooked, squeeze in the tomato paste and cook through for a minute before adding in the tomato and onion mix, chutney and herbs. Mix everything together.
  4. Pour in the water and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the butterbeans and salt.
  5. Serve on a pillow of mashed SPAR Freshline Sweet Potato or Phutu or Rice, if preferred.
