Mince and Mushroom Potato Topped Pie
A one pot dish that's filling and delicious. Savoury mince in a creamy mushroom sauce crowned with a fluffy mashed potato topping.
Mince and Mushroom Potato Topped Pie
  • Prep Time: 20 minutes Cook Time: 40 minutes

  • Serves: 5 - 6

Ingredients

  • +- 500 g Light and Lean extra-lean beef mince
  • 250 g SPAR chopped bacon
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • ½ packet SPAR cream of mushroom soup powder
  • ½ jar ready-to-use, roasted vegetable or napoli pasta sauce
  • 250 ml SPAR milk
  • 500 ml SPAR frozen cut green beans

Potato Topping

  • 2 x single portion sachets instant mash potato powder
  • 375 ml boiling water
  • 500 ml SPAR self raising flour
  • 2 SPAR large eggs
  • 5 ml mixed dried herbs

Method

  1. Coat the base and sides of a medium size SPAR Good Living premium stainless steel pot with non-stick baking spray.
  2. Heat the pot and lightly turn the mince, bacon pieces and chopped onion, until lightly browned all over.
  3. In a jug, mix the soup powder with the pasta sauce and milk. Pour onto the browned meat. Turn gas setting down to a very-low flame, and simmer with the pot lid on, for 15-20 minutes. Stir often to prevent the mixture sticking to the pot base.
  4. Add in the beans and bring back to the boil.
  5. Combine the topping ingredients in a bowl, and pour gently over the cooking beef. Do not spread or mix - it will spread on its own! Replace the pot lid securely, and cook over a low-flame for 15 minutes without lifting the lid to peep.
  6. Serve portions directly from the pot.
  • A can of drained SPAR mushroom pieces or baked beans in tomato sauce, added in step 3, will extend the meal to serve an extra person.
