Finely Chopped Onions

Finely Chopped Onions
Welcome to the first step in becoming a top chef in your kitchen.
We have an easy method to finely chop onions. Hardly any tears, no mess and no wastage. You'll be sharing this method with everyone you know!

STEP 1

Peel Onion

Cutt off the non-root part of the onion and peel the first layer of the skin leaving the root intact.
FACT: When the root is cut it bleeds, which is largely the cause of tearing up when chopping onions.

STEP 2

Halve Onion and Slice

Halve the onion from the root to the non-root end. Point the knife at the root and slice in a downward motion as close to the root as possible. Chop evenly in smooth downward strokes.

STEP 3

Dice Onion

Push the onion together on the side and cut horizontally into the onion, just below the middle and then again above the middle. Then grip the onion like a tennis ball and hold it together as you slice downward (perpendicular to the root). Chop evenly until you get to the base of the root. Chop the remaining onion around the root into finely chopped pieces.
