Spider Sandwiches

Spider Sandwiches
Get creative the next time it's your turn to make sandwiches.
Spider Sandwiches

  • Serves: 4 – 8 

Ingredients

  • 8 slices SPAR Freshline Whole Wheat Sandwich Bread
  • SPAR Soft Margarine
  • SPAR Cheddar or Gouda cheese
  • Lettuce, shredded
  • Marmite or Bovril spread
  • Pretzel sticks, for the legs of the spiders
  • SPAR Freshline Carrot, cut into thin strips
  • SPAR Raisins
  • SPAR Paper Plates (optional)

Method

  1. Cut out the spider bodies using a round cookie cutter.
  2. Place the circles on a cutting board. Slice cheese and cut out pieces just a little bigger than the bread.
  3. Spread the bread circles with margarine and marmite. Add a little lettuce if desired. Place the 8 spider legs in position. Place a round of cheese and another bread circle on top.
  4. Press two raisins into each circle to be the eyes. 
  5. Draw a web on a paper plate with a black marker and place the spiders on the plate to serve. 
  • Use whole-wheat or brown bread as it has more fibre than white bread.  Have fun experimenting with different fillings.
