Comfort in a Cup
Warm up winter evenings with one of these hot bevvies nestled in your palms - an indulgent change to tea and coffee.

Spiced Chai Tea


Serves: 2-3

Ingredients

  • 2 bags black tea (any kind)
  • ó tsp cardamom
  • ó tsp allspice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ó tsp cloves
  • 1 ó tsp ground ginger
  •  ó tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 5 tbsp sweetened condensed milk

 Method

  1. Fill a pan with 5-6 cups water.
  2. Add the tea bags and bring to a boil.
  3. Stir in the spices and turn the heat down to low.
  4. When you are ready to serve add 1 to 1ó tablespoons sweetened condensed milk to each cup.
  5. Pour in the hot tea and stir to dissolve the milk.

Cappuccino


Serves: 1

Ingredients

  • SPAR Skinny Cappuccino Sachet

Method

  1. Add frothed milk with cinnamon sprinkles to top it off

Hot Chocolate


Serves: 6 (small servings)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups full cream milk
  • 1 tbsp fine granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp SPAR Hot Chocolate
  • 140g good quality bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • A few granules sea salt

Method

  1. Heat the milk in a saucepan over a medium heat.
  2. Add the sugar and SPAR Hot Chocolate.
  3. Whisk until dissolved.
  4. Once the milk is hot and steaming, add the chocolate and salt and turn the heat down to medium low.
  5. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted.
  6. For a thicker hot chocolate, keep whisking and cook at a low boil for 3-5 minutes until it becomes thick and creamy.

Hot Buttered Rum


Serves: 7

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • ó cup confectioners’ sugar
  • ó cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream, softened
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • ó cup boiling water
  • 1-3 tbsp rum

Method

  1. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the ice cream, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  3. Cover and store in the freezer.
  4. For each serving, place ó cup butter mixture in a mug, add boiling water and stir to dissolve.
  5. Stir in rum to taste.

Aztec Hot Chocolate


Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 6 cups milk
  • 280g dark chocolate, chopped
  • tsp cinnamon
  • a pinch or two cayenne pepper (optional)

Method

  1. Place the milk and chocolate in a pan.
  2. Melt the chocolate over a low to medium heat, stirring constantly.
  3. Once melted and the mixture is warmed through stir in the cinnamon and cayenne (if using).

To Serve

Marshmallows or Cinnamon Sticks

Hot Toddy

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 4 slices red apple
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 slices orange
  • 2 cloves
  • 450g simple syrup (equal part sugar dissolved in water)
  • 450g bourbon whiskey

 Method

  1. Add all the ingredients to a large saucepan and put over a low heat.
  2. Slowly bring up to a simmer to infuse the bourbon, and keep over a low heat for further 5-7 minutes.
  3. Serve warm.
