Recipe Ingredients

  • ¾ cup + 2 tablespoons (200g) unsalted SPAR butter
  • 1 cup (200g) SPAR white sugar
  • 3 large SPAR eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups (195g) SPAR cake wheat flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • A hearty pinch of salt
  • ¼ cup SPAR full-cream milk

Recipe Method

  1. Prepare two 20 cm round cake pans by lining and greasing them.
  2. Preheat your oven to 175°C.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until it becomes light in colour and fluffy in texture, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  6. Gently incorporate 1-2 tablespoons of flour, continue to beat for 2 minutes. Then, fold in the remaining flour, baking powder, salt, and milk just until combined.
  7. Evenly divide the batter between the two prepared pans, smoothing the tops.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the cakes are golden brown and a tester inserted into the centre comes out clean.
