Aztec Hot Chocolate Recipe
When it came to bringing the flavour out of hot chocolate, the Aztecs knew that a bit of spice was the way to go.
Recipe Ingredients
- 6 cups full cream milk
- 280g dark chocolate, chopped
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1-2 pinches cayenne pepper
- Marshmallows (Optional)
- Cinnamon sticks (Optional)
Recipe Method
- In a medium sized saucepan, combine your milk and chopped chocolate.
- Bring the mixture to temperature over a medium low heat while stirring constantly. This will ensure an even melt and prevent scorching of the chocolate.
- Once your milk is warm and the chocolate is melted, remove the pan from the heat.
- Stir in the ground cinnamon and cayenne pepper.
- Serve immediately, garnish optionally with marshmallows or cinnamon sticks!
