Macaroni Cheese Recipe
Creamy macaroni smothered in rich cheese sauce, a comforting classic loved by all ages.
Recipe Ingredients
- 300 g SPAR macaroni
- 60 g SPAR Choice butter
- 60 g SPAR Cake Wheat flour
- 550 ml SPAR full cream milk, lukewarm
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 250 g mixed cheeses (cheddar, mozzarella, parmesan), grated
- 40 g breadcrumbs
- 2 large ripe SPAR Freshline tomatoes, thinly sliced
Recipe Method
- Preheat the oven to 200 °C.
- Cook macaroni in boiling salted water for 9 minutes until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a pot, melt butter over medium heat. Blend in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in milk until the sauce is smooth and slightly thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
- Stir in most of the cheese with the macaroni. Pour into a greased baking dish.
- Top with tomato slices, then sprinkle the breadcrumbs and remaining cheese mixture.
- Bake for 20 minutes until golden and bubbly. Rest for 10 minutes before serving.
