Hot Buttered Rum Recipe
This winter favourite is perfect when served around the fire, as a dessert, or after a cosy braai.
Recipe Ingredients
- 1 cup softened butter
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- ½ cup light brown sugar
- 2 cups softened vanilla ice cream
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ cup boiling water
- 1-3 tablespoons rum
Recipe Method
- In a large bowl, cream together your softened butter, powdered sugar, and light brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Slowly beat in the softened ice cream, nutmeg, and cinnamon until well-incorporated.
- Cover the mixture and chill in the freezer until ready to serve.
- When serving, place ½ cup of the butter mixture in a mug, add boiling water, and stir until dissolved.
- Add rum to taste.
