Butter Chicken Recipe
Whether it’s a casual dinner party or a hearty meal for your family, this rich chicken curry will always be a favourite!
Recipe Ingredients
- ~1.2kg Chicken Braai pack
- 2 medium onions, sliced thin
- 100g SPAR butter
- 15ml SPAR sunflower oil
- 10ml garam masala
- 10ml coriander powder
- 10ml chilli powder
- 20ml garlic and ginger mix, freshly minced
- 3 cardamom pods
- 100ml plain yoghurt
- 40ml tomato paste
- 150ml full-cream milk
- 250ml fresh cream
- 3 curry leaves
- 15ml corn flour
- Salt to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Recipe Method
- Melt your butter and oil in a large pot, brown your chicken making sure to flip them. Once browned, remove and set aside.
- Using the same pot, fry your onions until transparent. Add your chicken back to the pot.
- In a separate bowl, combine all your spices as well as the ginger and garlic mix with your yoghurt, tomato paste, and milk.
- Add the yoghurt mix into the chicken and onions, making sure to coat every piece well. Add your curry leaves and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Mix your cream and corn flour together, then stir into the simmering chicken for another 10-15 minutes.
- Serve with your favourite rice or naan and enjoy!
