Recipe Ingredients

  • ~1.2kg Chicken Braai pack
  • 2 medium onions, sliced thin
  • 100g SPAR butter
  • 15ml SPAR sunflower oil
  • 10ml garam masala
  • 10ml coriander powder
  • 10ml chilli powder
  • 20ml garlic and ginger mix, freshly minced
  • 3 cardamom pods
  • 100ml plain yoghurt
  • 40ml tomato paste
  • 150ml full-cream milk
  • 250ml fresh cream
  • 3 curry leaves
  • 15ml corn flour
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Recipe Method

  1. Melt your butter and oil in a large pot, brown your chicken making sure to flip them. Once browned, remove and set aside.
  2. Using the same pot, fry your onions until transparent. Add your chicken back to the pot.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine all your spices as well as the ginger and garlic mix with your yoghurt, tomato paste, and milk.
  4. Add the yoghurt mix into the chicken and onions, making sure to coat every piece well. Add your curry leaves and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Mix your cream and corn flour together, then stir into the simmering chicken for another 10-15 minutes.
  6. Serve with your favourite rice or naan and enjoy!
