Cupcake Mosaic featured in world record book

28 September 2016

SPAR set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title in September 2015 for the Largest cupcake mosaic.  This record has been chosen, from among the thousands of records submitted every year, to feature in the 2017 edition of the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS Annual.

We are delighted that this project, which started as an idea to raise funds and awareness for Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer, will receive global attention.  Grab a copy from your local bookstore and find the feature on Page 86.

The colourful design featured 33,660 cupcakes arranged to display the South African flag, cancer ribbon, the Springbok emblem and the “Go Bokke” message to show support for the Springboks in the Rugby World Cup.

A GUINNESS WORLD RECORDSTM Official Adjudicator was on hand at the unveiling to verify the world record and hand over the certificate to SPAR CEO, Graham O’Connor.

After the event, the cupcakes were donated to a number of local community organizations and schools for everyone to enjoy.
More than R175,000 was raised for Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer.  This great achievement was a result of the teamwork of SPAR staff, their families, individuals and suppliers who made it all possible.
