Seared Slices of Beef Bavette on Crostini Recipe
Thinly sliced steak on crisp ciabatta slices with fig jam, blue cheese and rocket.
Recipe Ingredients
- 2 SPAR Steak Co. Bavette Steaks
- A dash of vinegar or Worcestershire sauce.
- ½ cup Biltong spice rub
- ½ SPAR Bakery ciabatta, sliced and toasted
- ½ cup SPAR Olive Oil
- SPAR Fig Jam
- 100g SPAR Signature Selection Blue Cheese
- 1 packet SPAR freshline rocket
Recipe Method
- Brush the bavette with a little vinegar or Worcestershire sauce.
- Spoon the dry rub onto a saucer and press the meat into the spice. Make sure the spice covers all the meat.
- Leave for at least an hour or overnight in the fridge.
- Sear over high heat for 2 – 3 minutes a side.
- Place in a 180º oven and roast for 15 minutes, turning half way through cooking time.
- Leave to rest for 10 minutes then slice thinly.
- In the meantime, brush the slice ciabatta with a little olive oil and toast under a hot grill.
- Spread with fig jam and top with rocket.
- Add the sliced bavette and crumble over the blue cheese and serve.
