Pork Pleaser Recipe

Pork neck is the Cinderella of pork cuts, providing an economical basis for a family on a budget.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 4  Pork neck steaks (+- 450 g)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • SPAR Olive Oil
  • 20 ml SPAR Dijon Mustard,
  • 4 ml SPAR Freshline Crushed Garlic,
  • 4 ml dried Sage
  • 4 ml chilli flakes
  • 200 ml fresh breadcrumbs
  • 2  SPAR Freshline Granny Smith apples, peeled and grated

Recipe Method

  1. Season the pork steaks with salt and pepper, then pan-fry them in a light splash of olive oil, turning occasionally over medium heat for 8-10 minutes, until well cooked through.
  2. Meanwhile combine the remaining ingredients to have ready to pile onto the steaks as a topping. Cook covered for 5 minutes and serve soon to enjoy the tender, juicy result.

Hints & Tips

  • Vary the filling slightly by adding in a little grated SPAR Gouda cheese.
  • To prepare cauliflower mash to accompany, break a SPAR Freshline Cauliflower Head, into its florets and cook in lightly salted water for 10 -15 minutes until tender. Puree half in a food processor with salt, pepper, 15 ml SPAR Olive Oil and 25 ml SPAR Garlic &Chives low fat Smooth Cottage Cheese. When softened, slowly beat in the remaining cauliflower to a creamy mash potato consistency.
