New Year Party Pud Recipe

This is the perfect dessert to make ahead of time, and take along as your contribution to a meal for a get-together with friends on the 31st.

Recipe Ingredients

  • +- 700 g leftover SPAR Freshline Christmas pudding or fruit cake, cubed
  • 100 ml brandy or SPAR pure apple juice
  • 1 sachet SPAR Tiramisu mix (200 g)
  • 250 ml water
  • 750 ml SPAR fresh cream
  • 125 ml light brown sugar
  • 30 ml SPAR castor sugar

Recipe Method

  1. Fill the base of a SPAR Good Living 2.3 litre round stoneware casserole dish with the pudding or cake cubes.
  2. Pour over the fruit juice or brandy, and set aside to soften.
  3. Beat the Tiramisu powder with the water and cream until soft peaks form.
  4. Pour this mixture over the soaked cake.
  5. Combine both sugars, and sprinkle evenly over the Tiramisu layer. Refrigerate with the dish lid on, and serve when completely cold and the sugar layer has begun to dissolve slightly on the top.

Hints & Tips

A 1 litre carton of SPAR vanilla custard can be used as an accompaniment, to extend the serving portions for a large crowdThe other un-opened 200 g sachet of SPAR Tiramisu powder may be refrigerated and kept for another day - note the expiry date on the pack.
