Meringue Party Centrepiece Recipe

Impress your guests big time with this stunning centrepiece; almost too pretty to eat!

Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 ready made large pavlova case
  • 6 small meringue baskets
  • 2 x 250 ml SPAR fresh or long-life cream, well chilled
  • 100 ml toffee squeeze-sauce (find this in the syrup/spreads aisle)
  • 3 SPAR Good Living dinner candles (metallic)
  • Assorted fresh fruits, mint leaves and sweets for finishing off

Recipe Method

  1. Place a cake stand on a suitable base plate. Position the pavlova on the top tier of the cake stand. Insert half a toothpick into the base of each dinner candle, and spike into position in the pavlova centre.
  2. Whip the cream and toffee sauce together until firm peaks form.
  3. Half-fill the pavlova and meringue baskets with the toffee-cream. Top each one with fresh fruit.
  4. Banana, strawberry and apple slices go particularly well.
  5. Arrange the filled meringue baskets around the cake stand base.
  6. Decorate as your creativity takes you, using fresh fruit, mint leaves, sweets and so on, to create a masterpiece to impress!
  7. Light the candles when you are ready to serve.
