Fig & Thyme Jam with Bacon & Grilled Cheese

Make your own fig jam in only ten minutes! Then combine with bacon and cheddar for a toasted sandwich fit for a king.

  • 4 x figs, diced
  • 2 Tbsp (30 ml) brown sugar
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) chopped thyme
  • 8 x rashers SPAR Streaky Bacon
  • 4 x slices SPAR Marksbury Select Cheddar Cheese
  • 8 x slices Ciabatta
  • butter


  1. Cook the figs, sugar and thyme over low heat until jammy (for 10 minutes).
  2. Spread both sides of the bread slices with butter.
  3. Cook the bacon until crispy.
  4. Layer the Ciabatta with jam, bacon and cheese.
  5. Toast in a pan over medium heat for 5 minutes per side, or until golden.
