Corn Chowder Bread

Make use of our ready-to-heat soups available in winter, to create your own quick method, home-made loaf. Serve at a braai, with soup, or for open sandwiches.

Makes 1 loaf


  • 500g packet SPAR self-raising flour
  •  0.5 ml dried chilli flakes
  •  50 ml   SPAR sunflower oil
  • 1 tub SPAR Freshline corn chowder (500 g)
  • 100 ml  SPAR milk
  • 250ml  grated SPAR cheddar cheese


  1. Pre-heat oven to 190 ° C.  Grease a standard loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, chilli, oil, soup and milk, stirring gently with a wooden spoon to obtain a smooth batter.
  3. Add half the measured cheese, and spoon the mixture firmly into the prepared loaf pan.Sprinkle the remaining cheese over, and bake for 1 hour or until an inserted skewer comes out clean.

Hints & Tips

Best enjoyed on the same day as baking, with lashings of SPAR butter or margarine.
