Choc-Mallow Melt Recipe

If you are hosting an Easter family get-together, and are looking for a dessert that could be enjoyed by all ages, this is the perfect excuse to indulge!

Serves: 8 - 10

Recipe Ingredients

  • 250 ml SPAR vanilla custard
  • 125 ml SPAR fresh cream
  • 6 marshmallow Easter eggs, roughly broken up
  • 50 g dark Albany chocolate, broken into pieces
  • 1 ml mixed spice
  • 1 ml vanilla essence
  • 100 ml SPAR Hot Chocolate powder

Recipe Method

  1. In a thick-based saucepan, combine all the ingredients over low heat (except the Hot Chocolate powder) stirring continuously until melted and smooth. *Microwave method: heat the same ingredients at 60 % Power for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Stir in the Hot Chocolate powder until thoroughly dissolved.
  3. Pour into a heatproof bowl and serve immediately, or set aside and reheat when needed. Do not boil.

Hints & Tips

  • It is unnecessary to use a fondue pot for this. Serve it hot and it will retain sufficient heat for enjoying over dessert-time. Use table forks or fondue forks.
  • Prepare the fresh fruit for dipping just before serving to prevent them spoiling.
  • Use up any leftover sauce poured warm or at room temperature over SPAR Creamy Vanilla or Rum and Raisin ice cream.
