Chicken Apple Bake Recipe

This quick idea has potential to become a family favourite with the interesting use of an apple, bacon and peanut flavoured creamy sauce.

Recipe Ingredients

  • +- 650 g mixed chicken thighs and drumsticks - 8 portions
  • 125 g SPAR diced bacon
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 200 ml apple puree
  • 250 ml SPAR apple juice
  • 1 packet SPAR cream of chicken soup powder
  • 10 ml SPAR smooth or crunchy peanut butter

Recipe Method

1. Preheat the oven to 180º C.
2. Place chicken pieces, bacon and onion in an oven dish and bake for 25 minutes until lightly browned all over.
3. Combine the apple sauce, juice, soup powder and peanut butter. Pour this sauce over the chicken.
4. Bake covered, for a further 25 minutes. Stir once or twice during this time to keep the sauce smooth.

Hints & Tips

The most convenient form to purchase the apple sauce is a 200 ml jar of pureed apple baby food. Alternatively, puree a 410 g can of unsweetened pie apples.
