Broccoli Tots Recipe

Recipe Ingredients

  • 340g SPAR Freshline broccoli, cut into small florets 
  • ¼ cup SPAR Freshline spring onions, thinly sliced 
  • 2 cloves SPAR Freshline garlic, finely diced
  • ⅔ cup shredded SPAR cheddar cheese (70 g)
  • 1 SPAR egg, beaten
  • ⅔ cup bread crumbs(75 g)
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • 2 teaspoons Sriracha, optional but recommended

Recipe Method

  1. Fill a medium saucepan with water and bring to a boil. Aggressively season with salt. Blanch the broccoli in boiling water for about two minutes.
  2. Drain and finely chop the cooked broccoli.
  3. In a mixing bowl, add broccoli, onions, garlic, cheddar, egg, and bread crumbs. Optional: Add hot sauce of choice. Mix well and chill in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven to 200°C.
  5. Spray a non-stick baking sheet with non-stick spray. Shape the mixture into tot shapes and spread them evenly on the sheet.
  6. Bake for 8–9 minutes. Flip and then bake for an additional 8–9 minutes on the other side until golden brown.
