Beef Stroganoff Bake

An all-in-one dish based on both traditional Stroganoff and potato bake recipes, providing a convenient, warming family meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 packet SPAR mushroom soup powder
  • 250 ml tub Sour Cream
  • 1 can SPAR Mushroom Pieces & Ends , drained
  • 2 large and 1 medium potato, peeled and thinly sliced
  • +-400 g beef stroganoff strips
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 5 ml paprika
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced into half-rings

Method

  1. Pre-heat oven to 200ºC.
  2. Combine the sour cream, soup powder and canned mushrooms. Set aside.
  3. In a medium-depth casserole dish, layer half the potato slices, all the beef strips seasoned with salt, pepper and paprika, half the sauce, onion slices, the remaining potato slices, then the remaining sauce.
  4. Bake in the pre-heated oven for 50 - 60 minutes until browned on top and a knife inserted into the potato comes out with little resistance.

Hints & Tips

 If you used fresh cream instead of sour cream, stir in 25 ml SPAR lemon juice before using it.
