Apple Pie Spring Rolls Recipe

A crispy deep fried spring roll pastry case with a delectable spicy apple filling.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons SPAR butter
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup SPAR brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 4 SPAR Freshline apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 packet spring roll pastry wrapper
  • SPAR Sunflower cooking oil, for deep-frying
  • Berry dipping sauce, optional

Recipe Method

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, lemon juice and sugar.
  2. Add the cinnamon, nutmeg and apples
  3. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples have softened. Set aside to cool.
  4. Arrange the spring roll wrappers on a dry work surface then place 2 tablespoons of the apple mixture in the centre of each of the spring roll wrappers.
  5. Roll the wrappers around the mixture, folding the edges inward. Before your final fold, dip your fingers in water and then moisten the outer edge of the wrapper to seal the spring roll.
  6. Heat the oil in a pot, over medium-high heat.
  7. Gently place the spring rolls into the oil and fry, turning as needed, until golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oil and drain on kitchen towel.
  9. Serve on a platter with a bowl of berry compote dipping sauce.
