Nasal Rinse Myth Buster

Did you know that a nasal rinse can help treat allergy symptoms as well as sinusitis build up? There are many false impressions about nasal rinses. We bust six myths and explain how easy it is to treat allergy symptoms using a nasal rinse.

Myth 1

Putting water up my nose is not healthy

A nasal rinse can help wash out any mucus, allergens and bacteria that may get stuck in your sinus passages

Myth 2

Nasal washing will have the same burn as jumping into a pool

A pool contains strong chlorine and chemicals that cause your nose to burn. Nasal washes will not burn your nose as the wash contains a very mild solution when you use the sachet provided with the nasal rinsing kit.

Myth 3

You can’t keep a nasal wash bottle clean

Wash the bottle by simply adding a few drops of detergent and warm water, shake it up, rinse it out and allow the bottle to air dry.

Myth 4

The water is not safe to use

Regular tap water is safe, we recommend boiling the water then allow it to reach room temperature before using.

Myth 5

The rise water will rinse mucus down my throat

By leaning forward over a sink or in the shower, gently squeeze the bottle and this will help the fluid come out the other nostril and will prevent the fluid from reaching your throat.

Myth 6

It’s very difficult to do myself

Doing a nasal wash can feel awkward at first but it is very simple and safe to use. Regular practice will make it easy. We recommend doing a nasal wash every day.
