Monkey Gland Sauce Recipe
There’s nothing more South African than Monkey Gland Sauce! Slather it onto a perfectly braaied piece of steak and enjoy with a crunchy salad and some spicy onion rings!
Recipe Ingredients
- 1 SPAR freshline onion, grated
- 2 SPAR freshline garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1 Tbsp (15ml) SPAR freshline ginger, grated
- 3 Tbsp (45ml) SPAR Tomato Paste
- Big pinch of SPAR Chilli Flakes
- 1 can of SPAR Diced Tomatoes
- 1 cup (250ml) of SPAR Chutney
- 3 Tbsp (45ml) Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp (5ml) SPAR Signature Selection Cayenne Chilli Sauce
- 2 Tbsp (30ml) red wine vinegar
- 2 Tbsp (30ml) SPAR Brown Sugar
- 2 Tbsp (30ml) SPAR Olive Oil
Recipe Method
- Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onion, garlic and ginger for a few minutes or until soft and sweet.
- Add the tomato paste and cook for a minute.
- Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Season to taste and serve with braaied steak.
