Situated under a cool canopy of evergreen trees, the world-renowned Essenwood Craft Market brings you a delightful variety of locally made products, including clothing, jewellery, tasty food, bath and beauty, homeware and plants & herbs. This is one of Durban’s most established markets, with their 1000th market trading this last 16 of June. It has also won 1st Place in the 2005 and 2006 Reader Choice awards.

The distinct African feel throughout the market, combined with reasonable prices and excellent crafted quality, makes it a must-see for tourists and locals alike. There are fun activities for kids (including face-painting, a playground and more), a lovely tea garden and live music from local musicians to get into the Durban groove.

Renowned as a hot spot for the home industry, and boasting more than 220 stalls, it is here that you can find some of the best craft in the region. Whether you are looking for a gift, or simply need to relax with a massage, there is a place for everyone.

The market is pram and wheelchair friendly, and parking (with car guards) is available in Essenwood, St Thomas, Berea Park and Sydenham Roads. The Essenwood Craft Market is open every Saturday from 9 am until 2pm.
