Since its inception in 1992, the SPAR Women’s Challenge has drawn an impressive number of women runners, creating a powerful platform for breaking everyday barriers and promoting women’s empowerment through sport.

Women unify for a day of fun and camaraderie, surpassing even the participation seen in the renowned Comrades Marathon. Unlike other competitive events, the SPAR Women's Challenge fosters a sense of community among female family and friends of all ages and abilities, embracing the challenges (10km race/5km fun run and walk) core purpose of empowering women emotionally and physically.

Established in 2007, the SPAR Women’s 10km Grand Prix series has consistently grown stronger, firmly establishing itself as a vital component of women’s athletics in South Africa.

The SPAR Grand Prix series is the leading women-only road running series in the country and the continent. Our investment enables us to empower and inspire women from diverse backgrounds to stay motivated and embrace a healthy lifestyle. The series complements our SPAR Women’s Challenge events held in major cities across the country. Through the SPAR Grand Prix, we celebrate excellence across all age groups, providing dedicated runners with the opportunity to be rewarded with substantial prize money, and supporting them in developing their running careers.

SPAR gives South African soccer a boost by sponsoring AmaZulu F.C.

Established in 1932, AmaZulu Football Club is one of the oldest football clubs in South Africa. It is a club that is deeply rooted in the local community of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal and has support countrywide.

The club engages in various activities with educational institutions and local community-based projects to benefit their supporters.
