Boerie in a Blanket Recipe

Juicy sausage, covered with a streaky bacon slice and topped with a honey mustard glaze.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 500g of Your Butcher By SPAR Boerewors
  • 200g of SPAR Tender & Tasty Streaky Bacon
  • SPAR freshline rosemary
  • SPAR freshline sage 

Glaze

  • 4 Tbsp (60ml) SPAR Signature Selection Hot Honey
  • 2 Tbsp (30ml) SPAR Dijon mustard
  • 1 Tbsp (15ml) SPAR brown sugar

Recipe Method

  1. Cut the boerewors into 10 pieces.
  2. Stretch out the bacon and place a few sprigs of rosemary or sage on top.
  3. Place a piece of boerewors on one end and roll up.
  4. Place in a baking tray, making sure the ends are tucked under the boerewors and repeat with the remaining sausage.
  5. Roast in a 180º C oven for 20 minutes, Drizzle over the glaze and roast for a further 5 minutes.
  6. Combine all the glaze ingredients together and simmer over a low heat for 1 to 2 minutes.
