New uses for household items

The items around your house have a multitude of uses.  Try some of these handy tips using products most of us have at home.
  • If you have a problem opening jars: Try using latex dishwashing gloves. They give a non-slip grip that makes opening jars easy.
  • When you get a splinter, reach for the sticky tape before resorting to tweezers or a needle. Simply put the scotch tape over the splinter and then pull it off.  This removes most splinters painlessly and easily.
  • To restore finished wood furniture, steep two tea bags in hot water for 10 minutes. Let cool, then dampen a clean soft cloth with tea and wipe over wood furniture. It will bring out the woods natural colour and shine.
  • To clean oil based paint off of your hands, use a little sunflower oil. Then wash hands with warm soapy water.
  • To remove scuffs on white leather shoes or handbags, rub with metal polish, leave to dry then rub off with a clean cloth.
