Terms and Conditions

During the SPAR 60th birthday competition, SPAR will give 60 000 lucky Rewards customers their shopping at prices from 60 years ago.

  1. The competition starts on Tuesday, 11 July 2023, and ends on Sunday, 20 August 2023.
  2. Buy any of the participating 60th birthday products from any SPAR store and swipe your NEW SPAR Rewards card to be eligible to win.
  3. If you are not yet a NEW SPAR Rewards card holder, activate your card today by going in-store. 
  4. Participating products will be depicted on in- store advertising material, as well as on the SPAR website.
  5. 60 000 winning transactions will be randomly selected at till points.
  6. If your transaction is selected during the competition, your shopping will be INSTANTLY discounted to prices from 60 years ago.


Digital Competition

The promoter is The SPAR Group LTD (“the Promoter”). 

  1. This promotional competition is open to all South African residents who are 16 years or older, in possession of a valid proof of identity, except any director, member, partner, employee, agent or consultant of the Promoter, the marketing service providers or any person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by these entities, including their spouses, life partners, business partners or immediate family members. 
  2. The competition starts on Tuesday, 11 July 2023, and ends on Sunday, 20 August 2023. Any entries received after the closing date and time will not be considered. 
  3. To enter, participants will be required to: 
    • Recreate and share your favourite rewind memory with SPAR (on the @MySPAR Facebook page) use #SPAR60thREWIND, #SPARRewind and hashtag their region ie #SPARDurban
  4. Participants may enter as many times as they wish, provided each entry is unique
  5. The prize is 1 (one) of 12 (twelve) SPAR Birthday Hampers to the value of R2500. This will be broken down into R1500 voucher and R1000 SPAR items.
  6. Any prize not taken up for any reason within 48 hours of notification, will be forfeited. 
  7. All winners will be required to provide their full names and surnames, contact details and physical address for courier.  
  8. Winners will be selected by means of a random draw and contacted via private message. The Promoter (or their agent) will contact the prize winner on day of draw, should the winner not respond within 48 hours, the prize will be forfeited. If the prize winner cannot be contacted during this period for whatever reason including technical problems, the prize will be forfeited. 
  9. The prize includes delivery and winners will be required to provide the Promoter with a valid day-time delivery address to enable delivery. 
  10. The Promoter reserves the right to name winners publicly. By entering this promotional competition, prize winners agree to the publication of their names by the Promoter. 
  11. Any personal data submitted by you will be used solely in accordance with current South African data protection legislation, the Protection of Personal Information Act, the Consumer Protection Act, and the Promoter’s respective privacy policies. The Promoter may contact you for marketing purposes, on the basis that you will have the choice to opt out at each interaction. 
  12. The Promoter shall not be responsible for any lost, damaged, delayed, incorrect or incomplete entries for any reason whatsoever. 
  13. The Promoter shall not be responsible for the failure of any technical element relating to this promotional competition that may result in an entry not being successfully submitted. 
  14. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any winner if fraud or cheating is suspected, including without limitation, through the manipulation of code or otherwise frequently falsifying data. 
  15. NOTE: Any attempt to use tactics to enter more than the stated limit may result in disqualification and all associated entries will be void. Entries generated by script, macro, bot, commercial contest subscription, incentives or other means not sponsored by the Promoter, vote-swapping sites, voting software, entering service sites or any other automated means and entries or votes by any means that subvert the entry process or do not conform to the terms or spirit of these competition rules, will void the entry and may disqualify the entrant. 
  16. No applications from agents, third parties, organized groups or applications automatically generated by computer will be accepted. No incomplete or corrupted entries will be accepted. Entries will only be accepted if they comply with all entry instructions. 
  17. The prize is not exchangeable for cash and is not transferable. 
  18. The Promoter reserves the right to use the entries into the competition for publicity purposes in any manner they deem fit, without remuneration being made payable to the winners. 
  19. The Promoter shall have the right to change or terminate the promotional competition immediately and without notice, if deemed necessary in their opinion and if circumstances arise outside of their control. In the event of such change or termination, all participants agree to waive any rights that they have in respect of this promotional competition and acknowledge that they will have no recourse against the Promoter or their agents. 
  20. If the prize is not available despite the Promoter’s reasonable endeavors to procure the prize, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal value. 
  21. Neither the Promoter, their agents, their associated companies, nor any directors, officers or employees of such, shall be liable for any loss or damage, whether direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise arising from any cause whatsoever, which may be suffered by the participant. 
  22. The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. 
  23. Participation in the promotional competition constitutes acceptance of the promotional competition rules and participants agree to abide by the rules. 
  24. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with META, Facebook, Instagram or Tik Tok and participants acknowledge that they are providing information to the Promoter and its agents only and not to telephone networks.  
  25. All entrants in this competition release META, Facebook, Instagram or Tik Tok from all liabilities, claims and responsibilities arising out of or in connection with this competition and these terms and conditions.
