A Spoonful of Sugar is a Miracle Cure.

A Spoonful of Sugar is a Miracle Cure.
Here are some unusual uses for sugar.
  • Keep cut flowers fresh, dissolve a spoonful of sugar in the vase water
  • Perk up a tomato based sauce by adding a pinch of sugar
  • Clean garden-soiled hands.
  • Simply pour olive oil and a little sugar onto your hands and rub well. This removes grime and softens your hands too. The same paste makes a good hand or facial scrub (avoid the delicate eye area).
  • Easily remove paint from your hands by combining equal parts sugar and olive oil. Rub your hands together until the paint residue disappears.
  • Bring out the natural sweetness of mielies, add a pinch of sugar to the boiling water
  • Keep biscuits fresh and crisp by sprinkling a thin layer of sugar on the bottom of the air-tight storage container before adding in the biscuits.
  • Keep cheese free of mould by placing the cheese and a tiny bowl of sugar into an airtight container.
  • Cook beetroots more quickly and make sure they retain their bright colour. Add a teaspoon of salt and a teaspoon of sugar to the boiling water.
